VERSENE™ CA is a highly effective chelating and sequestering agent that forms stable complexes with free metal ions across a wide pH range, preventing unwanted reactions that can lead to product degradation. Naturally occurring heavy metals and elements in raw materials and processing water can initiate spoilage, rancidity, off-flavors, off-odors, discoloration, and degradation of vitamins and active ingredients at low concentrations. Calcium disodium EDTA in VERSENE™ CA binds with free metal ions like iron and copper, stabilizing and inhibiting reactions with fats, oils, microorganisms, and active ingredients. By limiting free metal ions, VERSENE™ CA improves product shelf life by reducing quality issues, lipid oxidation, and microbial spoilage. VERSENE™ CA outperforms citric acid, phosphates, and lactates in food applications, especially at acidic pH levels, making it a superior choice for protecting product quality and integrity.
